FSF To Host Governor’s Baseball Dinner to kick off 2018 MLB Spring Training Season
The Florida Sports announced the 2018 Governor’s Baseball Dinner will be held on February 15, at Tropicana Field. The Dinner will be co-hosted with the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. As one of the state’s most time-honored traditions, the Governor’s Baseball Dinner, celebrates the opening of spring training in Florida.
“We are excited to kick off the 2018 Major League Baseball Spring Training season with this year’s Governor’s Baseball Dinner,” said FSF Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Pinellas County has an amazing history with the Florida Grapefruit League since the early 1900s. We are honored to continue this historic event at Tropicana Field.”
This year’s festivities will be presented by Fanatics, a worldwide retailer of licensed sports products and current manufacturer of all Major League Baseball uniforms. A Florida-based company, Fanatics has a significant presence in the Tampa Bay area.
“It is a great honor to affiliate our organization with this longstanding event in our state which traces its roots back to the 1940’s,” said FSHOF President Barry Smith. “Baseball runs deep in our Hall of Fame membership and we are proud to play a role in organizing this year’s event on behalf of the Governor.”
The 7 p.m. dinner will be preceded by a VIP Baseball Legends Reception and meet and greet. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and representatives from teams who annually train in Florida will be in attendance along with celebrity baseball players from several teams.
The Florida Grapefruit League annually attracts more than 1.5 million fans to the 12 locations statewide during the month of March and provides the state with a $753 million economic impact.
