57th Annual Florida State League All Star Game set for Saturday in Tampa
TALLAHASSEE – In the Bay area this weekend, baseball fans have the opportunity to see the future stars of Major League Baseball (MLB) compete in the 2018 Florida State League All Star Game and Home Run Derby being held at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa on June 15-16.
The weekend’s events kick off on Friday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. with the annual Home Run Derby and Mascot Mania representing numerous teams from the Florida State League. On Saturday, June 16, the 57th Annual Florida State League All Star Game will take place at 6:30 p.m. while the evening will conclude with a fireworks show.
“We are very excited about this year’s All Star Game, as this is the first time Tampa has hosted this great event,” said Ken Carson, President of the Florida State League. “It promises to be exciting! Friday night’s Home Run Derby is one of the highlights of the weekend as the players get to show their skills.”
All Star Weekend is a great opportunity to see some of the top players from the 12 teams of the Florida State League. Current MLB players including Javier Baez, Josh Bell, Gerrit Cole, Wilmer Flores, Brett Gardner, Daniel Norris, Gary Sanchez, Noah Syndergaard, Christian Yelich, and many more have participated in the mid-season event.
The Tampa Tarpons, the High A affiliate of the New York Yankees and winners of the 2018 Logomania competition, will serve as the team host for the ASG.

It’s an exciting time not only for the league and our organization but for the Tampa community.”
The All Star Game’s rosters are led by the North Division’s outfield, which consists of Reds Top 100 Prospect Taylor Trammell as well as T.J. Friedl (Reds), Daz Cameron (Tigers), and Cristian Pache (Braves). Clearwater’s Darick Hall, the FSL’s home run leader, also will don the North Division jersey Saturday.
The League’s best numbers on the South side belong to Rays infield prospect Nathaniel Lowe who leads the FSL in batting average (.374), on-base percentage (.451), and slugging percentage (.626). He has also tallied a league-best 43 RBIs.
The South is led by Rays Top 100 Prospect Jesus Sanchez, an outfielder who this year has hit .337 with six home runs and 32 RBIs. Jupiter’s Brian Miller has made a name for himself, hitting .328 in his first full professional season after being drafted as a supplemental first round pick in 2017 out of North Carolina.

Friday’s Home Run Derby is $5.00. Early bird pricing for individual tickets at for Saturday’s game are as follows: Lower Reserve: $10.00 each, Upper Reserve: $7.00 each. There is a day of game prices increase by $5.00 for each ticket.
